As the entire cooling process is integrated in the air handling unit, there was no need to install unsightly chillers on...
Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre is one of Iceland’s most striking landmarks and a symbol of modern Iceland. The building is located in the heart of Reykjavik and is framed by breathtaking views of the North Atlantic Ocean and surrounding mountain peaks. Its spectacular architecture has earned multiple awards and accolades.
Harpa has also been named Northern Europe’s best destination for concerts and conferences. Since its grand opening in 2011, it has attracted over 5 million visitors from around the world.
With its location and appeal, Harpa has become the city’s cultural and social hub. It is home to The Icelandic Opera, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, and The Reykjavik Big Band. Numerous concerts and festivals across various genres have graced the stage. Notable visitors include the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Saint Petersburg Ballet, Kraftwerk, and Tony Bennett.
In environments for music and performance, the low noise level is the most important characteristic of the air handling units. Additionally, a comfortable indoor climate is a significant factor for an enjoyable experience. Therefore, one of Harpa’s key criteria for the installation of air handling units was that the sound should not disturb the acoustics.
IV Produkt thus collaborated with one of the world’s leading consultants in the field to find a solution that would not increase the building’s construction costs.
Thanks to the modular design of the Flexomix series, it was possible to develop 22 air handling units that operate almost silently and still meet the requirements for energy efficiency. A combination of world-class sound and ventilation!
